“Draw close to God, and He will draw close to you.” says James. Drawing close to our Holy God, might initially be uncomfortable, but this is the way of life everlasting; and where the rare jewel of Christian contentment can be grasped.
God has a special plan for your life.
these two kinds of wisdom have a different root; and produce different fruit. Worldly wisdom, such as that from secular philosophers, can be insightful at times; but it lacks a foundation in God – and so lacks the necessary grounding to produce the kind of godly fruit we need in our lives.
When we share the gospel with someone, we are sharing the words of eternal life ‘as if God was making His appeal through us’! (2Cor5:20). On the other hand Adam and Eve in the garden plunged the world into sin and darkness because they were deceived by the content of a conversation! James is not exaggerating here when he says that words are powerful.
Don’t assume that you are in a right relationship with God simply because you believe He exists. Don’t claim that everything is OK because you are willing to recite good Bible doctrine.
So today, are you intrigued by a particular sin? Are you flirting with temptation? Is there a sin which you today you are starting to find increasingly alluring? If you feel weary – then read on because there is a guy in scripture just like you!
I am so thankful for this scripture! Imagine if the Bible said “don’t be weak”, or it said that we could only come to God, when we are strong, happy and feel confident. But read the text again. It doesn’t just say that God knows about our weaknesses, it says that He has also made special provision for it! That amazing provision is the gift of The Holy Spirit. God is so good.
